How the pacing calculator works
This pacing calculator uses your distance and target finish time to calculate the average running pace needed. It shows the same target as minutes per kilometre and minutes per mile, plus average speed in both units.
The split table shows cumulative elapsed time at each kilometre, including a partial final split when the distance is not a whole number of kilometres. Calculations run in your browser and do not require a network connection.
Pace per unit = total seconds ÷ distance in that unit; speed = distance ÷ hours Running pace calculator FAQ
What is a pacing calculator?
A pacing calculator converts a target distance and finish time into the average pace and speed you need to maintain.
Can I calculate pace in miles and kilometres?
Yes. Enter the distance in kilometres or miles. The result always includes pace per kilometre, pace per mile, and both speed units.
What distances are included?
The presets include 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon. You can also select a custom distance.
How are the splits calculated?
Each split is the target pace multiplied by the distance covered. The final row is shortened when the entered distance ends between whole kilometres.
Are my running details saved?
No. This tool performs the calculation in your browser and does not save the values you enter.
